Anna Borkowski

Anna Borkowski, a 10 year old black belt at
Xtreme Training Center and
member of the elite competition team, Team Xtreme has taken the art of
kicking to another level! Anna began her martial arts training at the
age of 6, at the same time Anna was already deeply involved in local
soccer programs. Maintaining a rigorous training schedule Anna has
continued to prove to be a very strong competitor in both sports.
Since
the age of 6, her days have consisted of several hours of training to
maintain her skills in taekwondo and soccer. At age 7, Anna began
to soar. Traveling to her first Junior Olympics in Orlando, Florida to
compete against the nations best martial artists, she easily conquered
her division and secured a gold medal. Anna continued to travel around
the country participating in local, national and international
competition for taekwondo.
In 2004, Anna won her sparring division at
the Amateur Athletic Union National Taekwondo Championships and
continued to reign her division for two more years. Anna is ranked in
the top 5 in her division in the Nation with AAU and USAT taekwondo. All
along continuing her soccer career with the Baltimore Bays and being
instrumental in the Bays U10 successful record.
Most recently, Anna
tried out for the Maryland Youth Soccer Association's Olympic
Development Program and was selected for the program from a pool of 250
girls ages 10-12. "Anna is a very unique athlete," states
her taekwondo coach Jennifer Hastings. "She has natural ability
that matches her drive and dedication, we forget at times that she is
only 10." Anna attends St. Ursula's where she began the cross
country team as a supplemental activity to her other sports.
Anna
remains undefeated and often set records for the long distance runs. "I
don't think that there is a sport that Anna can't do and do well,"
states Lonnie Suazo, assistant coach of Team Xtreme.
"The great
thing is that Anna is balanced, maintains her grades and is able to
successfully juggle a very demanding schedule."
