Ashley
Losch not typical freshman
Sarasota Herald-Tribune, FL BY CHRIS DELL CORRESPONDENT
SARASOTA -- Riverview High has its own Renaissance Ram, and she goes by the name of Ashley Losch.
A black belt in tae kwon do, Losch can also speak three languages. She is also making a name for herself on the basketball court.
The freshman can run the point, score from 3-point range, slash to the basket and bang inside with the big players.
The freshman has played an integral role in the Lady Rams' 11-1 start, coming off the bench to spell forward Shannon Washington.
"Anytime you're going up against better players in practice, you'll get better," said Riverview coach B.J. Ivey. And anytime you have a freshman with a good work ethic, that's also a big plus...
Crouching

Shoreline Times, CT

Among the students
at the Kajok TaeKwon-Do studio of Harris Bonfiglio is his son Nicholas,
shown here demonstrating agility and power as he smashes through a board
held by his father and other students.
There are only about 30 of them in the entire world.
Bonfiglio has been operating his Kajok TaeKwon-Do Training Studio at 2431
Foxon Road in North Branford for the past three years. But as he anchored
his slim body on the studio's gleaming wooden floor (he stands five feet
four inches tall), his eyes shining, his 145-pound frame poised for the
pending impact, you could almost feel the dignity, the confidence, the
grace that seemed to surround him like some magical aura. Now his son, 15,
a Guilford High School student who works out at the studio an average of
six times a week, launched himself into the air. He soared three, then
four feet above the floor - whirled - whirled again and smashed his right
foot against the pad...
Defend
Yourself!
The Pacifican, CA

Everyone knows Stockton is not the most crime-free city,
but did you know that according to CNN.com, Stockton is ranked the
nineteenth most dangerous city in the United States? Knowing basic
self-defense is a smart way to protect yourself from harm, and
fortunately, Pacific offers self-defense classes right here on campus.
Coach Greg Salgado teaches Tae Kwon Do on Monday nights, Kickboxing on
Tuesday nights, and Karate on Thursday nights in the South Campus Gym. He
is a fourth degree black belt in a discipline that is a combination of Tae
Kwon Do and Karate, and has been practicing martial arts since 1972. He
began teaching in 1996, and says that the most important thing about
teaching is “sharing the knowledge.” He added, “We try to have fun
and learn self-defense and relieve stress.” All students are welcome to
attend these classes. At the end of the class, students will have learned
enough techniques to test for an orange belt, which is the third belt
level in Tae Kwon Do...
