Blogg : The perfect body...by The Iron Guru
part one - Vince
Gironda - The Iron Guru
When I was heavily into martial arts...(pre-injuries) I was into
body building too. Not a giant body but a "perfect body"
for my age and weight. I had started weight training with my football coach
(at age 16), so I had built a prefect muscle foundation for my age to start
with. I had created a body plan for when I got to age 60. So if I ever
wanted to weight train later in my life it would be easy to grow naturally
to the next level.
So, later in my life I decided I wanted to get my black
belt. I trained hard in martial arts for 8 years, until my injuries got the
best of me. I wanted to continue my weight training and get my black belt in
Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido at the same time. The perfect body and a black
black! Wow...! And since I was in awesome shape, it would help me to get my
second degree black belt. I chose lucky to find Grand master Jun Chung to
train with privately.
In my search of a weight trainer, the most amazing thing
happened to me. I was lucky enough to meet the Iron Guru - Vince
Gironda.
Well this...is Vince Gironda.

This mother of four and grandmother of two is a dedicated
fundraiser who has raised millions for arts and culture groups in
Houston and around the world. Most people see her at galas and
fundraisers — or in photos from them — all glammed up. In real
life she's just as glamorous, tiny but super fit. She recently
talked to Health editor Diane Cowen about how great food, decadent
desserts and how she stays slim...

Blind
ignorance ties judo champ in knots

And as a blind judoka, he's suffered some of the worst ones in the
book - including having sighted opponents tip-toe around him for a
surprise crash tackle. But there was nothing more painful for the
five-time Paralympian than being told he could not compete at the
Beijing Olympics simply because he can't see. He certainly felt he
was good enough. Clarke, 47, has been No.3 in Australia before and
has won national titles five times competing against his sighted
counterparts...

discus thrower Stephanie Brown Trafton
Editor's note: Discus thrower Stephanie Brown Trafton of Galt is blogging
from Beijing. She won the gold medal.
A golden moment
We did it! I came to China with two throws on my mind: One throw to make it
to finals and one more to seal the deal and win a medal. My last throw of
the qualification round shot me to the top of the list and my first throw if
finals took home the gold medal! The last few days have been so hectic for
me that I still have not had the time to process the significance of the
achievement. I set a standard in my first throw in the finals of the
Olympics and no one had and any fight left in them to get the lead back.
Remember when I said, "if you make the finals at the Olympics, anything
can happen?" One of those "anything" scenarios included me
tossing a great throw for those stadium conditions followed by a weak
response from the rest of the field.
